We love it when a fellow industry professional who has designed a great websites for their clients says, “your website isn’t enough, you not only need a great website but an active blogging and social media strategy as well — and I know just the guy!”.
Which is exactly what happened and how we met Ally.
When I met Ally, I was instantly aware that she was an amazing woman. She had an amazing business idea, but she didn’t want people to buy from her out of sympathy, she wanted people to buy from her because of the quality and innovation of her product.
We know that in 2019 the marketing paradigm has shifted. I’ve said it for years by quoting Seth Godin, that “Marketing is no longer about the stuff that you make but about the stories you tell” — and Ally is no exception.
You see — Ally is a cancer survivor.
During her treatment, she found that there wasn’t any piece of clothing she could wear comfortably. So, she sought to find clothing that worked for her sensitive skin. When she couldn’t really find any – she decided to create and make her own.
But now that we’re working together, what she’s found is that the conversation transcends clothing, and has found that her greatest value is in helping other cancer sufferers/survivors overcome the many adversities that being in treatment presents.
Right now, Ally and I are working together to craft her story in such a way that it’s not about her, but about how her experiences can help other people.
Ally’s learning style is kinesthetic and social. So, she makes a trip out from White Rock to Abbotsford to physically sit next to me as I teach our courses. We have our own time before and after the course to specifically tailor her own social media strategy.
As much as I am an inspiring and creative kind of guy, it’s actually Ally who inspires me!
What an honour to be able to call this remarkable lady my client, and now friend.
